Co-Founder, Managing Partner & Chairman
Mr. Heffner is a Co-founder, Managing Partner, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Adamas. He has over 20 years of investment experience in Hong Kong and has extensive experience in asset management, marketing, and entrepreneurial ventures.
Prior to the founding of Adamas, Mr. Heffner was a Partner/Chief Investment Officer and Founder of Ajia Partners Fund of Funds business. He was responsible for the development of Middle East relationship. During his tenure, Ajia Partners managed over USD2.5 billion in alternative investment funds focused on Asia.
Before Ajia Partners, Mr. Heffner was a Managing Director for Hong Kong family office responsible for all technology, media and telecommunication investments, including hedge funds, private equity funds and direct investments. Primary achievements included distressed investment in China Netcom with a 17x multiple exit and successful launch of multi-billion dollar fund of funds platform. Mr. Heffner also served as an Associate Director with Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management in New York and Hong Kong. He was also the former President of Columbia Alumni Association Hong Kong and is current board advisor.
Mr. Heffner obtained an MBA from Columbia Business School and graduated with Honours in Asia Studies from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.
Co-Founder, Managing Partner & Vice-Chairman
Mr. Lau is a Co-founder, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Adamas. Prior to the founding of Adamas, he was Head of Fund Derivatives Asia at BNP Paribas focused on structured collateralised lending on hedge fund assets.
Prior to BNP Paribas, he was at ABN AMRO focused on structuring dynamic guarantees and credit derivative instruments.
He was formerly a lawyer at Clifford Chance LLP, London, focused on private equity and hedge fund establishments and investments.
Mr. Lau is on the global board and Co-chair of Asia for the Alternative Credit Council, a global body representing asset management firms in the private credit and direct lending space. Mr. Lau is also a member of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) within the Banking and finance task force. ESCAP is the regional development arm of the United Nations for the Asia-Pacific region.
Mr. Lau obtained a law degree from University College London.
Managing Director, Head of Private Investments
Ms. Yu is a Managing Director and Head of Private Investments of Adamas Asset Management. Since Ms. Yu joined the firm in January 2010, she has managed investments under the private credit funds and gained extensive experience in private credit investments in Greater China. She has also been responsible for the overall coordination of a China onshore RMB lending platform where onshore collaterals can be secured.
Previously she worked at BNP Paribas with Barry Lau, responsible for equities and derivatives product structuring and distribution in Hong Kong and South East Asia. She was actively involved in market research, deal structuring and execution, and the overall coordination of deal documents with clients, the legal team and regulators relating to structured products.
Prior to BNP Paribas, Ms. Yu was an accountant at Ernst & Young.
Ms. Yu has a Master in Chemistry from Oxford University.
Chief Operating Officer
Richard is the Chief Operating Officer of Adamas Asset Management. He has extensive asset management, investment banking and risk consulting contributions in Asia and beyond with more than 20 years of experience.
Prior to joining Adamas, he was a member of global management teams for both AXA Investment Managers and Deutsche Bank. Richard has successfully implemented risk adjusted return on risk adjusted capital strategies and policies, monetizing opportunities for Asian corporates, banks and governments. He has led the evaluation and execution of Asian focused structured and flow institutional transactions and developed an extensive and reliable network.
Recognized as a thought leader and public speaker, he has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the RMIT University in Melbourne.
